SENTA

Refit Period Various Years
Shipyard Howaldtswerke - Deutsche Werft
Hull Length 16.30m / 53ft
Year of Construction 1928
Type of Boat One-off Build - Wishbone Ketch

2020 – 2021
During this winter, the teak deck was restored. This involved removing all deck fittings and partially dismantling the deck furniture before the old teak deck was taken apart. The repair work then focused on the underlying original deck, installing new diagonal bands, and reinforcing the deck with a laminate coating. After leveling the deck, new teak was laid. Additionally, SENTA received a new anchor windlass.

2018 – 2019
After more than 90 years of use, extensive restoration was required during the winter storage of 2018/2019. Despite regular and professional maintenance by the owner families and Winkler Boatyard, the signs of age were simply too evident to ignore.

Initially, attempts were made to repair or replace damaged parts in sections. However, during the dismantling process, it quickly became apparent that the keel, deadwood, and a significant portion of the steel frames only allowed for a “major” repair. As a result, SENTA received a new wooden keel and new deadwood; the keel was re-planked, the steel frames in the bilge area were replaced with new parts, all keel bolts were renewed, the underwater hull was stripped, and the plank seams were reworked.
Furthermore, the engine foundation was overhauled, and the engine was serviced by maxmare: crankshaft re-bushed, camshaft replaced, cylinders bored and honed, pistons renewed, injection pump and injectors, cooler and water pumps, as well as the starter, both alternators, and the exhaust system were overhauled. The overhaul was completed with a fresh paint job and new fittings.
